PHYSICO-CHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF Parinari macrophylla SEED OIL

Abstract
The physicochemical analysis of gingerbread plum (Parinari macrophylla) seed oil extracted using soxhlet extraction with nhexane solvent was carried out and the following results were obtained; acid value 13.41± 0.057mgKOH/g, saponification value 152.87±0.100, iodine value 31.88±0.057I /100g, free fatty acid 14.52±0.173%, peroxide value 45.5±0.115meqH O 2 2 2, percentage yield 49.3, color was golden yellow, odour was agreeable, The oil was liquid at room temperature. The oil can therefore be use for industrial production of food products, soap and other cosmetics.
