Antibacterial activity of zinc oxide nanoparticles prepared in a bio material

Abstract
Zinc oxide (ZnO) has been of great importance in different applications due to its ability to exist in nano nano-sized structure. Zinc nitrate and biomaterial (sodium alginate) were employed for the preparation of Zinc oxide nanoparticles (NPs) using a simple heat method via a green method. The Prepared nanoparticles (NPs) were characterized by using UV-Vis spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transmission infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). The XRD and FESEM studies indicated the presence of a spherical shape with hexagonal edges in the matrix of the prepared zinc oxide nanoparticles. The UV-Vis spectrum showed a sharp absorption peak at a wavelength of 358nm. The FTIR peaks at 300–800cm−1 confirmed the formation of ZnO upon calcination of the precursor at 500 °C. The results showed that sodium alginate is a fascinating compound that can be used as a stabilizer for the preparation of Zinc oxide nanoparticles with promising antibacterial activity.
