Abstract
The study was carried out to examine trends in access and cost of Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) in Sokoto state, Nigeria from the period 2009-2015. Secondary data on accessibility to cost of ART collected from an economic impact study carried out by the United Nations Development Programme [1] were used for the study. Exponential trend equations were fitted to accessibility and cost to examine their patterns of growth. The computed growth trend for the area was positive (0.015) and significant (P<0.01). The computed growth trend for cost of ART was also positive (0.034) and significant (P<0.1). However, the quadratic time term indicated an accelerated growth in access to ART and a stagnated growth in its cost. It was suggested that the process of increase in access to ART should be enhanced and that of increase in cost be reduced through subsidy on cost of ART drugs, increase in drugs availability in the treatment centres, increase in the number of treatment centres and provision of subsidy on the cost of opportunistic infection drugs.

Key words: Access, Cost, HIV/AIDS, Sokoto, State
